Administrative Services Manual
Class Codes

Section: Accounting Effective Date: 11/1/2006
ASM Policy: 2.7.6 Supersedes: 8/1/2006

I.

A class code is a chartfield in the Shared Financial System that can be used to further define an account code. For example, the account 3100 refers to supplies. When 8048 is added as the class, the transaction is further defined as classroom supplies. Click here to see classes and descriptions in numerical and alpha order.

II.

The class field is required for three types of transactions:

A.

Remodeling and Maintenance Projects require a building number.

B.

Taxable receipts reported on a departmental deposit require a county tax code.

C.

Marketing Expenses (Account 3740) require a marketing class code.

  D. Computer and Related Peripherals accounts requires a computer class code.

Questions about classes should be directed to the Assistant Controller's Office, x6652 or email. Any requests for additional classes should be made only by Unit Business Representatives and should be sent to the Controller's Office.
