Click here to see a list of the distribution lists and the recipients when you send a message to a distribution list. GroupWise Auto Replies To protect against the chance of creating infinite email loops in GroupWise, Novell integrated reply logging into the system. As a result, auto reply messages will only be sent once to each unique email address. The log of email addresses that have received the reply gets reset every time you turn the auto reply rule off and back on. Allowing you to use the same vacation rule for different vacations as long as it has been turned off and back on.
GroupWise SPAM and Virus Filtering All incoming email on the GroupWise system is scanned for SPAM and viruses. No messages are discarded by the system. They're just modified before they are delivered to your mailbox. Read further for details on how SPAM and infected emails are handled. Virus Handling In the event that an inbound message contains an attachment with a virus; the infected attachment is removed from the email and quarantined by the filtering system. A text file named "defanged.txt" is attached to you email message and delivered to your mailbox. The "defanged.txt" contains an explanation of the file that was removed, it's location, and name within the quarantine. That way in the event of a false positive on a file it can be retrieved from the quarantine by the the Systems department. SPAM Handling Incoming messages that are identified as SPAM will simply have the text [=SPAM=] appended to the start of the subject line before it is delivered to your mailbox. That way a simple rule can be created to look for [=SPAM=] at the start of the subject line and move the message based on that. Click here for instructions on setting up a rule to move SPAM messages. It is recommended that you check the folder that SPAM messages are being sent to on a daily basis to make sure that your rule is not moving legitimate email messages.
