New SPAM and virus
Filtering System for GroupWise
Over the weekend of May 8th and 9th a Filtering
System will be installed on the GroupWise server.
After the weekend of May 8th and 9th all incoming
email on the GroupWise system will be scanned for SPAM and viruses.
This system will not not discard any messages. All messages
will still be delivered to the intended email account. They will
just be modified before they are delivered to your mailbox if they
are SPAM or contain infected attachments.

instructions on setting up a GroupWise rule to handle SPAM messages.
LCD Monitor Care &
Tips
If you have an LCD (flat
panel) monitor please make note of the following care
guidelines. The screens of the LCD monitors are made of a
plastic and should not be cleaned with glass cleaners. The ammonia
in glass cleaners can etch the screen. Paper toweling should
never be used to clean an LCD screen either as it is abrasive and
can permanently scratch the screen. If your screen is dirty
and needs to be cleaned a solution designed for cleaning LCD screens
should be used with a soft cotton rag.

Office Solutions. They carry Kensington Screen Guardian in a 4

For those who order from
Corporate Express. They carry a screen cleaning gel in a 6.8
oz bottle. Item number RRTRR1260.

RightFax Users!!!
The old
central BFS fax number (414-229-6977) has been disconnected,
please check the information in RightFax's FaxUtil program to make
sure the information is accurate. Please see the RightFax
area of News & Tips for details on this issue. An
updated cover sheet for RightFax has been created as well.

them up in the online
BFS directory.

HELP?
When experiencing problems your best
course of action is to contact the BFS Help Desk at x4582 or by
email at help@bfs.uwm.edu.
When e-mailing the Help Desk include as much information about the problem
as you can. Information like the error message you are
receiving, the offending application, and what you were attempting
to do at time the error occurred.
NOTE:
When emailing the Help Desk, make sure
you send your email to the BFS Help Desk (help@bfs.uwm.edu),
not
IMT's Help Desk. The IMT Help Desk does not support
our network.
Supported
Software
Software that is supported by
the Systems staff is limited to the software that is installed by Systems.
Software should only be installed by Systems personnel, you should
not attempt to install anything on your computer.
If you have software that is
job related that needs to be installed on your computer just request
assistance from the Systems helpdesk.
Someone from the Systems staff will then assist you with installing
the software on your computer.
