LCD Monitor Care & Tips If you have an LCD (flat panel) monitor please make note of the following care guidelines. The screens of the LCD monitors are made of a plastic and should not be cleaned with glass cleaners. The ammonia in glass cleaners can etch the screen. Paper toweling should never be used to clean an LCD screen either as it is abrasive and can permanently scratch the screen. If your screen is dirty and needs to be cleaned a solution designed for cleaning LCD screens should be used with a soft cotton rag. For those who order from Boise Office Solutions. Windows Updates Some of you may have noticed that a yellow light bulb icon appears in the system tray (the area by the clock) just after you log into your computer. This is the result of the system we have in place to install Windows updates on computers running Windows 2000 and Windows XP. After a period of time the light bulb will disappear. If no updates were installed, the light bulb disappears and requires no further action. If updates have been installed on your PC a Window will pop up informing you that updates have been installed and that your PC needs to be restarted. Clicking the ok button, or closing that window will restart your PC immediately. Within the 5 minutes you should save anything that you may have open and acknowledge the reboot window. If you do not acknowledge that window within 5 minutes, the message times out and your PC is restarted automatically. |
