General Ledger

The general ledger module is the central financial module in the Shared Financial System (SFS).  It combines an integrated financial database with powerful general ledger accounting, budgeting, inquiry and reporting features.  The general ledger is comprised of journals which are batches of accounting entries.  The general ledger data can be viewed using both WISDM and nVision Reports.  All transaction in the General Ledger can be identified by the Journal Source Code which identifies the type of transaction (i.e., Direct Charge, Purchase Order Encumbrance, etc.) and the Journal ID Prefix which identifies where the transaction originated (i.e., Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Campus Interface, etc.)
